
The Public Safety Grant Administration Office was created in 1969 as the Rhode Island Justice Commission under R.I.G.L. ยง 42-26. The Public Safety Grant Administration Office develops comprehensive planning and programming for improving the state criminal justice system's overall response to crime issues. The agency primarily pursues a variety of activities authorized by statute and executive designation. The grant management functions of this office were incorporated within the Department of Public Safety-Central Management Office when the Department was created.
